Evaluation - Providing thorough psycho-educational evaluations for learning differences, in particular dyslexia, by a well-trained professional with unique credentials in the field of dyslexia.
Consultation - Consulting with families concerning testing results to further enable parents for making the best educational placement decisions for their child and family.
Tutoring - Engaging Certified Academic Language Therapists [CALTs] to provide Academic Language Therapy. These educators are specifically trained to remediate and/or ameliorate the academic concerns [reading, writing, and spelling] experienced by individuals with dyslexia, no matter what grade or age. Certified teachers, with a strong background in addressing the different learning styles of individuals with dyslexia, will serve as tutors. They are available to either go out to the student's place of instruction, or work with the student who comes to the DRC. Classes are held during and after traditional school hours to accommodate schedules.
Professional Development - DRC is highly skilled and experienced to educate the public, in particular educators, about how to reach and teach students with reading difficulties. Professionals who attend this highly specialized training will be eligible for national certification; Texas is on the verge of licensing teachers who work with students with dyslexia. We intend to be ready to answer that call.
